James Whyte secure African Rally title for 2009
2009 South African Rally Championship Round 5 "Toyota Zimbabwe Challenge Rally"

The final round of FIA African Rally Championship (ARC), round 5 "Toyota Zimbabwe Challenge Rally" was held from 29-30 August and James Whyte and Phil Archenoul in Subaru Impreza gained last spot of podium. Their third place in this event was enough to clinch the title after over 10 year of competing in the ARC. Subaru won the Manufacturers Cup and were completely dominant in the 2009 series.
Overall winner of the event was the 19 year old Chase Attwell from Zimbabwe in their Subaru Impreza. Other young driver Mohammed Essa lost fourth place when he checked in 3 minutes early at the start of the final stage and moved to 6th overall. 17 starters and 10 finishers.
