Misfer Al-Mari is now leading the FIA Middle East Rally Championship(MERC) after finishing in second place at the third round of the championship, "Syrian International Rally" which held 11-13 June, in the latest model of Subaru Impreza.
Al-Mari's rally didn't get off to the best start when he damaged his steering and was demoted to last place. Al-Mari fought back up the standings on Saturday to claim valuable points and finished the event by clawing back 22 seconds on the penultimate stage and overturned 13.7 seconds on the final 25 kilometres to move up to second place. Al-Mari is now one point ahead of Nasser Al-Attiyah who missed the event due to its clash with the P-WRC round in Greece.

The fourth round of the championship is the Rally of Lebanon on 3 - 5 July.
